Oprah Does it Again - This Time It’s Dogs in Wheelchairs!
It would seem that Oprah wins the “Can You Top This” contest in which she appears to be the only contestant. Earlier in the month she responded to a frantic bill-board plea to expose the puppy mill industry by devoting an entire show to this subject.
“Horsing around” appears to be gaining in popularity as people look to the equine arena for recreation. No matter the term, hacking, trekking or trail-riding, plain old horse back riding is once more fashionable and considered a nice healthly way to enjoy the great outdoors.
No matter where you wander these days pets are there. There is hardly a talk show on television that does not feature pets from Martha Stewart and Ellen DeGeneres to Oprah, Dr. Phil and Jay Leno. The social networking sites like YouTube and MySpace get insane traffic from videos people post of pet antics… mewling kittens and newborn parrots to piano-playing cats.
Allowing carry-on pets will be good news for many pet people. For people with allergies to pets… not so much. Hmmmm. Wonder if the airline will be handing ot antihistamines.
Spring and the trees are full of bird song. Birds are doing their mating dances in earnest. Their mating sounds awaoke me this morning… two grey morning doves were loudly courting on my deck railing. When I peered out, the display of flamenco dancing I saw could rival any episode of Dancing With the Stars. What passion and excitement! What elan!
