Those of us not accustomed to using coupons are in for a really pleasant surprise. At a time when pennies count, especially if you are feeding larger pets, using coupons to save money and be able to buy more pet food is a great idea.

To find pet food coupons the first place to check would be in your local newspaper and sales flyers. Next you can the individual websites of either the pet food brand your pets prefer. These sites always have coupons available… just be sure to check the expiry dates and rules. There are also some Internet sites devoted only to pet food coupons… these are generally for purchases made on the web only and not through local stores. Other pet food sites let you request coupons to be mailed to you. Some sites expect you to sign up to get the savings of pet food coupons.

Major big-box store retailers use pet food coupons as promotions, so be sure to check there as well. Beyond coupons, manufacturers who sell their own products are usually open to volume discounts, which may be worth a call as well.

Once you get into “coupon mode”, you may be able to detect a pattern of distribution by retailers… the dates that they put certain pet food brands on sale or give away pet food coupons. Once you know this pattern, you will no miss out on the many specials available. It is really surprising how much you will save on pet food and pet treats!
