In November, the cries of alarm from Willie, a Quaker parrot from Denver, Colo., alerted his owner, Megan Howard, that the toddler she was babysitting was choking. His yells of “Mama, baby” led Howard to perform the Heimlich maneuver and earned Willie the local Red Cross chapter’s Animal Lifesaver Award on Friday. - AOL News
Instances such as these clearly show the caring bond between people and pets. Many of us have pets who are unsung heroes… pets that in many ways have saved us from countless accidents and major illnesses.
Pets guard us and let us know when something is wrong. From life-and-death events such as WIllie encountered here to the cases of pet dogs sensing cancer in people and being early-warning sentries in alerting their owners to important health issues, pets openly show their care and concern for people. It is amazing, truly wonderful and humbling!
