New Twists on Exercising Your Dog!
For most of us with dogs, exercise basically comes in the form of walking together or sometimes jogging.
Weekends allow for off-lead running for the dog in a dog park while we socialize with friends or having Fido run along with us when we go biking.
Other dog owners make an effort to enter their dogs in dog agility trials. City-dwellers sometimes try indoor exercise for their pet on a treadmill… yes, for the dog (treadmills are also used as therapy for horses as well!).
For the more fit and adventurous of us, other fun forms of dog exercise are catching on overseas…
Cani-Cross (canine cross-country), Skijoring and Bikejoring (where the dogs pull you along while you’re on your skis or bike) are gaining popularity for people and their canine pets in Europe.
Musical Freestyle is a canine exercise that had its beginnings at the Pacific Canine Showcase in British Columbia, Canada.
