Interesting facts about geckos…

Geckos are unlike other lizards in that they have voices, some a croak, a high-pitched chirping or a clicking sound. They feed on small animals such as rodents, small birds or other lizards, but mainly insects.

Geckos make interesting pets but many pet parents are put off by the stench of the terrarium inhabited by geckos and their food.

Adult geckos can range in size anywhere from 3/4 inch to 14 inches long.

It is said that one can see through a gecko’s ears to the other side of its head… but we haven’t checked this out.

Most geckos are nocturnal, meaning that they are most active at night. Their large eyes are adapted to low light conditions so they have excellent vision.

If a gecko is attacked, it can distract an enemy by waving its tail. When the enemy attacks the tail, the tail breaks off but keeps wriggling. While the enemy holds the tail, the gecko runs away. It soon grows a new tail.
