B.A.R.K. Dog Picnic in Ottawa Great Fun…
A Sunday Spent “Going to the Dogs!”
Despite the threat of a rainy day, the community of dog owners and dog lovers spent the better part of Sunday celebrating their pets at a park in the Experimental Farm in Ottawa. Attendance was great at the 3rd annual dog picnic that was organized by and for B.A.R.K., the Bytown Association of Rescued Kanines, a registered pet charity in Ottawa Canada.
Dogs of all shapes and sizes brought their people of all ages to play.
The park was filled with the sights and sounds of canines and their people having fun… people lovers wandered the park enjoying the many vendor stalls that provided information about pet services and pet products, while others were involved in cheering as dogs and dog owners enjoyed the many planned activities for this canine picnic.
The air rang with the sounds of applause for the many dog races, the dog/owner look-alike contest, the dog howling contest, the best-costume (best-dressed) contest and the musical/obedience contest. Great fun was had by all… dogs, dog owners and pet lovers alike. The rain kept off until just near the end.
B.A.R.K. is a no-kill shelter whose goal is the rescue and rehabilitation of abused or abandoned dogs in the Ottawa area.
The volunteer-based pet association works to provide a support system for families to try to keep dogs in their original homes, helps to find new homes, on a limited basis and as space permits, for unwanted dogs.
B.A.R.K. also works to educate children and adults on how to choose and care for a pet, how to behave around an unknown dog and what to do if a dog chases you.
The B.A.R.K. Dog Picnic is one of their main fundraisers for the year.
Many people stopped by to take advantage of the special promotion to “Make your pet a Star!”™ at the MillionDollarPetPix.com booth.
One of these stars is a Dandy Dog named Ogre, who has already been given his star and corner of fame .
Watch for all the other new pet stars in the PetPix Time Capsule in the coming weeks, as they are added.
Watch here for the announcement of the winner of the draw that was held for a cool leather bike jacket for a cool dog!
