A very disturbing email came across my desk today from one of our readers… one that made me physically ill. It was a petition about a very cruel industry in China, to help to stop it.

The industry? Pet fur…
for use in the garment industry!

Can you believe this? Pet fur from little puppies who are actually skinned alive! I could not watch the video that was attached to the email and do not have enough words to condemn this cruelty. Filling out the petition form on-line is a start…

A lot of people (even pet owners) may not be keen about PETA, the animal advocacy organization that, according to popular public opinion, often goes overboard on their crusades. However, when one reads about the atrocities committed in the name of commercialism, one cannot but feel a sense of helplessness. It is therefore good to know that there are people (as in the PETA organization) who are ready to expose and speak out about these issues and to try to do something about them.

When visiting the PETA site to check out this email I noticed an interesting note about former 007 - Sir Roger Moore - and his message about Foie Gras. It is always great to see celebrities going on record by speaking out about important issues such as these. Celebrities using their visibility to bring awareness and to raise consciousness is important. Awarding the media for this is what the Genesis Awards are all about.
