Halloween Fun…
There are many reasons why pets prefer to go into hiding around Halloween, as evidenced by the many weird and wonderful costumes in which their owners dress them. While we get hearty laughs from the various pet costume get-ups we see around us and through our never-ending email photos, one really has to wonder how good all this fussing around can possibly be for the animal companion. No matter how serious a person may be, seeing some of these crazy pet costumes can really make one laugh out loud.
We should probably count ourselves lucky not to understand animal language, as we might not be very happy with their take on our amusement. It reminds me of a cousin who continually dressed her cat in clothes and wheeled it around the day in a “play” baby carriage. The cat never ever looked happy and did not purr, though her owner smiled and laughed with great joy about her “baby” cat. Obviously, this trend remains as the pet clothing industry appears to be doing a booming business.
Pet photography is also coming into its own. Pet portraits and family portraits with pets are very popular, especially as pets become a more-integral part of the family… a family member. Pet pictures are everywhere… on Flickr and Facebook and in email attachments. Bragging rights! One of the nicest places for pet pictures is the PetPix Time Capsule, where pets get a star and their own corner of fame, while their pet parents can get all types of pet bragging gear such as tees, coasters, pillows, note-cards and the like to let the world know that their pet is a star on this family-friendly site.
