While toothpaste and mouthwash companies are doing headstands trying to find new ways to sell their products, (Putting toothpaste and toothbrushes in colorful and funny-shaped containers to make teeth-brushing more fun with the hoped-for result of getting your kids to brush their teeth more often (read sell more product) or by putting a color trace in the toothpaste to show kids where they’ve missed a spot when brushing…), they should perhaps be spending more time highlighting the importance of dental health to a person’s general health. Why?

It is becoming more evidet that dental health is closely-related to overall health in a number of ways, though exactly how is still being studied. There seems to be a large correlation between poor dental health, heart problems, and ulcerated organs. Given the insanely-high costs of both dental and medical health, doing everything possible to prevent health and dental problems is critical.
