Canada gets the kudos this year with Charlie from Ottawa Canada taking the “Pet of the Year” honor for 2009.

This good-natured canine loves people and brings smiles to many at a local seniors’ residence. He also seems to like getting his picture taken when visiting his pals in the local sand pit and dog park.

Duke is still a young pup, but is very well-behaved and engaging. This is his special “worn out” pose which is often seen after one of his extra-long play times! Pets as People

Today, more than ever before, we attribute human characteristics and personality to pets. This is fun and entertaining, though some cultures find this rather odd and even a bit disturbing. Nonetheless, when one sees the many expressions and mannerisms of their pets, it is easy to think of them as fur people.
