“Charlie is our darling!”

Canada gets the kudos this year with Charlie from Ottawa Canada taking the “Pet of the Year” honor for 2009.

This good-natured canine loves people and brings smiles to many at a local seniors’ residence. He also seems to like getting his picture taken when visiting his pals in the local sand pit and dog park.

B.A.R.K. Dog Picnic in Ottawa Great Fun…

Despite the threat of a rainy day, dog owners and dog lovers spent the better part of Sunday at a park at the Experimental Farm in Ottawa to attend the 3rd annual dog picnic that was organized by and for B.A.R.K., the Bytown Association of Rescued Kanines.

Dogs of all shapes and sizes brought their people of all ages to play. The park was filled with the sights and sounds of canines and their people having fun. People wandered the park enjoying the many vendor stalls while others were involved in cheering as dogs and dog owners enjoyed the many planned activities for this canine picnic. The air rang with the sounds of applause for the dog races, the dog/owner look-alike contest, the dog howling contest, the best-costume contest and the musical/obedience contest. Great fun was had by all. The rain kept off until just near the end.
