A much-loved canine will now be getting his own stamp as the US Postal service commemorates celebrities from the 50’s. The stamp edition is called “Early TV Memories” and the stamps are now being sold. These stamps feature classic TV characters from the 1950’s and one of those being celebrated is the beautiful, intelligent Collie and Hollywood star named Lassie. This quick-witted canine hero entertained Boomers with all sorts of wonderful adventures.

Having just read “Hannah’s Dream” about an elephant that is rescued from a failing zoo, it was very timely and a great coincidence to see an “Amazing Animal” segment on Oprah today that was all about Tarra, a 35 year old Asian elephant and her faithful sidekick, Bella the dog who reside in an 1800 acre habitat in Hohenwald, Tennessee where sick and elderly female elephants are brought to retire.

Tips for going green for pet owners…

One of the easiest ways to recycle your newspapers is to bring them to your local humane society! While some bright and germain Beagles may like the news stories, the paper will be invaluable to the staff for cleanups or training.

Instances such as these clearly show the caring bond between people and pets. Many of us have pets who are unsung heroes… that in many ways have saved us from countless accidents and major illnesses.

Pets guard us and let us know when something is wrong.
