Many might mistake their laughter for heavy panting, but in fact Patricia Simonet, an applied animal behaviorist and research scientist, who counsels pets and their humans and researchs the behaviors of animals. She has studied dog laughter, dog rules during play and reducing stress in shelter dogs by broadcasting a recording of dog laughter.

While Oprah and Bill Smith were busy airing this important program, a new spokesperson for the cause was busy in the background. Enter Jane Kohl, a crusader for ending puppy mills… period. Featured today on Good Morning America, Jane spoke about her new book, A Rare Breed of Love, which is a star-studded collection of celebrities from many walks of life who support her in her “Adopt Don’t Shop” crusade to make people more aware of the importance of adopting shelter animals or buying from registered pet breeders instead of buying pets from pet stores or from the Internet.
